Peter Wink, Petty Wink, and Bali Blink.
I’m not sure yet what sets Winks apart from other cats, aside from that their eyes (like the charms) should always be shades of yellow and red.
I’ve been fishing for new ideas of what The Cats Eye (place, plain, dimension, whatever you want to call it) should look like, but I keep coming back to the inspiration for the mythology, which is the reddish-yellow space in a cat’s eye shine.
I know all cats are connected to it and use it to travel between places (this was how Captain Sam and his ship used to travel between worlds- before I realized the floating ship looked like Captain Hook’s and scrapped it ahaha), but I’d like it to have a little more substance than a glimmering, pathless void like I originally planned. I’m keeping the eye shine connection because it’s the backbone of the whole mythology, but I’m going to see if I can give the dimension more ground to stand on. Literally. Maybe temples. Secret passageways. Don’t know. I haven’t decided yet what a dimension that only cats seem to go to should look like.
Blinks and Winks are only as new as yesterday, but they’ve already made their home in the mythology. I should say they walked in and took right the fuck over.
It’s hard to catch the shine in a real cat, I learned that yesterday when I was fussing with Bruce. I’ve only caught it three times when the cats walked up to perch on my chest when I was laying in bed. I guess the light from the window was coming in just right.
